Prescriptive On-Planter Seed Treatment (POP-ST): Optimizing Profitability in Real Time

Working with agribusinesses, Inflexion Point Technologies helps optimize yield, improve sustainability and deliver a positive ROI on seed treatment.

Solution

The biological seed treatment market is rapidly expanding. With increased desire to sustainably improve per-acre performance on the farm, new technology is needed to enable yield-protecting green solutions to optimize farmers’ ROI.

Inflexion Point Technologies created a new prescriptive on-planter seed treatment technology — POP-ST™ — that enables a broader spectrum of biological and other niche seed treatments to be prescriptively applied over-the-top of already treated seed.  This additive technology enables more valuable technologies to be applied to seeds than is currently possible. POP-ST is the first on-seed application technology that allows the types and rates of products to be varied to what is optimal for each agronomic zone.

AgTech Game Changer

Prescriptive On-Planter Seed Treatment (POP-ST) enables precision application delivered directly from the planter to each seed in the most sustainable and flexible method.

POP-ST is an additive system that works with all key planters and crops. It is designed to be added as an upgrade to existing planters and integrated into the manufacturing process of new planters. It has been designed to work with both standard and high speed seed tubes.

How it works

Prescriptive: POP-ST enables prescriptive seed treatment by allowing farmers to vary the products and rates of those products so they can be optimized for each agronomic zone. The POP-ST solution increases farmer’s seed treatment choice and return on investment by allowing farmers to both customize their seed treatment products to their agronomic zones and decrease input costs by only using those products where they bring the most value.

On-Planter: Agriculture continues to drive for greater levels of sustainable practices, while improving yield and adhering to regulatory requirements. By being on-planter, POP-ST applies seed treatment real-time to each seed during planting, which is optimal for biological viability, planting day flexibility and pollinator exposure to insecticides.

Seed Treatment: By spraying the precise amount of seed treatment in the same range as used in current batch methods, POP-ST delivers treatment directly to each seed, thereby increasing treatment efficacy, consistency and limiting waste. This is different than in-furrow applications, which typically require application of a significantly greater amount of materials in the furrow to ensure treatments are actually applied to the seed and not just the soil.

Conventional Seed Treatment

Conventional batch seed treatments can lose effectiveness between application and planting, are limited in their number of options and don’t have a viable means for prescriptive seed treatment applications. New technology is needed to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of seed treatment application.

  • Not customizable

  • Biological ST Limits

  • Inability to do prescriptive seed treatment

  • Seed space limitation

  • No viable outlet for niche ST’s

  • Limited Options

  • Lack of farmer control

  • Heavy reliance on chemical seed treatments

  • Treatments loose effectiveness between application and planting

  • Increased chemical footprint

POP-ST

Prescriptive On-Planter Seed Treatment Technology (POP-ST™) enables prescriptive seed treatment by allowing farmers to customize their products and apply them on-demand at optimal combinations and levels for each agronomic zone to each seed. Advantages include:

  • Tailored treatments

  • Managed agronomic zones

  • Optimized products & rates

  • Improved accuracy of application

  • Enable niche ST Products

  • Reduce chemical footprint

  • Increase farmer choice

  • Improve farmer ROI

  • Expands options for biological seed treatments

  • Avoids need for applying insecticides prior to planting
